Paul Gauvreau tells his story of becoming the first to paddle board the 790-mile mighty Ottawa River. With 14 hydro-electric dams, over 60 rapids and waterfalls, 45+ portages (mostly through untracked bush) his tent, dry food, survival kit and stand up paddle board is all he needed.

Paddler SUPs To Protest Pipeline

Have you heard of the story of Standup4Greatbear Expedition? Boardworks SUP ambassador Norm Hann paddled 400km from Kitimat to Bella Bella, Canada, the proposed route of a pipeline. His mission was to bring awareness to the threat of these oil tankers, and doing so created a documentary about the expedition.

SUP, Surf & Sibling Rivalries At The 2016 Tofino SUP Championships

The mini-grom beat the grom as sibling rivalry returned to the 3rd annual Tofino Paddle & Surf Championships, October 21 to 23. A 13-year-old Finn Spencer beat out his 15-year-old older brother Jeffery to win the men's Pro Stand Up Paddle surf division, claiming the national title. And for the first time, prize money - $200.

SUP Athletes Compete For The First Time At 2016 Yukon River Quest

For the first time in its 18 year history, stand up paddlers have been invited to compete and participate in the in the 2016 Yukon River Quest. In the first year of being invited to the Yukon River Quest stand up paddle boarding (SUP) will be in the event as an experimental category and has attracted some of the world’s most renowned adventure and endurance stand up paddlers.

Maddi Leblanc Honors Loved Ones With Charity Paddle, On Board

On Board is a one day fundraiser for brain cancer research with the Canadian Cancer Society in Welland, Ontario started by teenager Maddi Leblanc. The day consists of a 10km paddle ride down the Welland Canal on July 14th 2016 at 2pm. Anyone can come out with any type of paddling experience with a canoe, kayak, SUP board, or anything else to join the ride! Learn more about Maddi and why she started On Board below.

14-Year-Old Crowned Canadian SUP Surf Champ

On a weekend full of highlights nothing stood out more than a 14-year-old winning it all at the 2nd annual Tofino Paddle Surf SUP Invitational. The event, held over three days at the end of October, included two days of stand up paddle board surf competition followed by a day of surfing. Both events and all categories were competitive with more than 134 entries.
