GRANITE BAY, California - Nor Cal SUP is excited to announce the next two races of the #PaddleSplash Festival to be held on beautiful Lake Natoma, in Folsom, California on July 28-30 and September 23, 2017. This year’s races will include prone, kayak, and OC and conclude with the event’s signature finale involving a 4-team relay around an obstacle course on the water where team costume is encouraged.

The theme for this year’s race is water safety. “Stand Up Paddling is a great activity for the entire family to get involved in. It is a non-impact sport and a great way to build your strength and balance.” said Shelly Alves-Churilo, owner of Nor Cal SUP. “Yet with any water sport, it is important to understand how to be safe on and around the water. To educate the public about the basics of water safety, we are partnering with On Scene Event Medical Services (OS EMS), the California Department of Boating and Water Safety, CA State Parks and the Folsom Lake Junior Lifeguards to provide training for Fire and EMS personnel and the public.”

This Multi-Agency (FIRE & EMS) Water Rescue Training and Demonstration will kick off at the start of the PaddleSplash festival and will satisfy the Fire and EMS annual continuing education (CE) hours. In addition, all children that participate in the training will be given a free life jacket, compliments of the Boating and Water Safety Agency. “It is with great enthusiasm that we be considered for a key part in the PaddleSplash Festival.” said Lynn Egen, owner of On Scene Event Medical Services. “We love our waterways and we are thrilled to help prepare our Fire and EMS teams in Northern California with this water rescue training, that will help keep our friends and neighbors safe while paddling together.”

The #PaddleSplash Festival is open to the public at Nimbus Flat on Lake Natoma. Shelly further adds, “This is a family oriented event, to help parents get to know SUP and to support the Northern California GROMs program (juniors race program).”
