300 Locals To Join L.A. Waterkeeper For Fifth Annual Stand Up For Clean Water

Clean water is worth standing up for. On April 16, nearly 300 clean water supporters demonstrate their enthusiasm for one of our most important resources while enjoying a fun filled standup paddle board race and celebration — Stand Up for Clean Water. 2016 guests include Robert F. Kennedy, Anthony Vela, Aidan Gallagher, Erika Benitez and more!

Meet Northern California’s Rising SUP Star, Haakon Hoyer-Nielsen

Hailing from El Cerrito, California, Haakon Hoyer-Nielsen is rising the ranks in the stand up paddle (SUP) world in both SUP surfing and racing having become a podium regular in practically every event he attends. Haakon trains in the San Francisco Bay, has already finished his first Molokai 2 Oahu race, is a puppy raiser for Guide Dogs for the Blind, works year round as a lifeguard and consistently makes high honors as a sophomore at Saint Mary's College High School. 7th Annual Mongoose Cup 2016 Just One Week Away!

The seventh annual Mickey Munoz Mongoose Cup to benefit the Sport of Kings Foundation will be held Saturday April 9, 2016 at Dana Cove Park (Baby Beach), Dana Point Harbor. Mickey and his friends will join many of the world’s best paddlers for a special fundraiser and a great day of paddling fun and competition.

30th Annual Santa Cruz Paddlefest Highlight Video

The 30th annual Santa Cruz Paddlefest was one for the books. The weather was perfect, waves consistent, and company incredible. Big thanks to Matt Hoff for all his hard work organizing and all the athletes who absolutely tore it up! On Saturday, April 16, Los Angeles Waterkeeper invites clean water supporters and outdoors enthusiasts to Stand Up for Clean Water — one of the largest stand-up paddle boarding events in Los Angeles and a Waterkeeper Alliance SPLASH Series Event presented nationally by Toyota and locally by Whole Foods Market.

Registration Open For 4th Annual Quickblade Jr Pro & Youth SupFiesta

Performance Paddling is excited to announce the 4th Annual Quickblade Jr Pro & Youth SupFiesta presented by Infinity on May 7 - 8, 2016.  Once again the top youth sup athletes in the world will congregate for the largest youth only sup event in the world. This unique event is comprised of three components, a Junior Pro Invitational Sup Surfing competition, Age Group SUP Surfing contest (7 divisions), and an Age Group SUP Race (7 divisions).

20th Annual Hanohano Challenge Starts 2016 Off With A Bang

Once again, Mission Bay in San Diego hosted the 20th Annual Hanohano Huki Ocean Challenge and the event did not disappoint. With gloomy skies for the majority of the day, the attitudes and demeanors of the athletes and spectators were anything but. Every direction you looked you saw smiles and heard laughter and cheers. The Hanohano is notorious for being a classic event with nothing but fun on offer and this year it once again lived up to that reputation.

Hanohano Outrigger Canoe Club and Huki Outrigger/Surfski present the 20th Annual Hanohano Huki Ocean Challenge to be held in Mission Bay, San Diego, California on January 23rd, 2016. The Hanohano Huki Ocean Challenge, a WPA sanctioned points race and flagship event for the SoCal Winter Racing Series, is one of the Longest Running Paddlesport Races in California offering access to all paddle crafts including OC-1 & 2, Surfski, Traditional Paddleboard, Standup Paddleboard and Kayak.

Paddle Boarder Has Dangerously Close Encounter With A Whale

In what can be seen as a very dangerous encounter that could have ended in disaster, one paddle boarder now has the story of a lifetime. While paddling in the waters of Santa Cruz, California, one paddler almost got swallowed (literally) by a humpback whale. Eric Garcia, who captured the video of the encounter describes in detail what happened on the morning of November 24, 2015.
