The annual SUPIA Summit that began on Wednesday, October 3, sparked conversations surrounding the current state of the SUP racing scene and where the industry is headed.

After a six-month campaign that sees them sitting first and second on the world rankings leaderboard, Australia's Michael Booth (Boothy) and Lincoln Dews will fight for the first ever Paddle League Men's World Title at the season-ending showdown in Dana Point, California this weekend.

San Francisco Bay welcomed paddlers for the 8th Annual Battle of the Bay over the weekend. In its 8th year the Battle of the Bay paddle board race will be returning to the heart of San Francisco in support of Ocean of Hope. New for 2018, the event location will see a new home at Aquatic Park Cove, a National Historic Landmark, located on San Francisco Bay.

Red Bull Heavy Water, quite possibly the most intense stand up paddling event in the world, will showcase top performing athletes in the ~12km (7.5 mile) course, with an event window from October 15th – November 2nd and prize money totaling $75,000.

The paddle-battles raged. On Saturday, June 23rd, elite athletes and spectator crowds gathered at the Santa Monica Pier for the first day of Pier 360. The two-day ocean sports and beach festival delivered over 12 hours of events, music, and immersive activations, culminating in the crowning of this year's Overall Elite Champions in men's and women's SUP events.

Bring on the paddle-battles. On Saturday, June 23rd and Sunday, June 24th, more than 350 athletes will storm the sands of the Santa Monica Pier for the Pier 360 Ocean Sports & Beach Festival.

Shore to be a good time. The Santa Monica Pier is officially putting summer on notice with the announcement of the first Pier 360 Ocean Sports & Beach Festival on Saturday, June 23rd and Sunday, June 24th. On the deck, down to the shore and into the waves, the Pier will offer a complete 360° of California beach culture.
