OAHU, Hawaii - Congratulations to the 2x Stand Up World Tour Women’s World Champion, miss Izzi Gomez on winning the Stand Up World Tour season opener at the Turtle Bay Pro on the North Shore of Oahu. Izzi battled it out with fellow Starboard SUP teammate Fiona Wylde in an action packed final after a busy day of competition.

Both Izzi and Fiona displayed impressive surfing throughout the entire event and it was no surprise to see the two of them meet up in the final. While Fiona was on point for the entire event it was Izzi’s powerful surfing on her forehand that stood out and ultimately led to the 2x World Champ’s first win of her career out at Turtle Bay and the first win of the 2016 season. Prior to this event, Turtle Bay has been the only stop on the Stand Up World Tour in years past that Izzi hasn’t won so winning this event completes her continued domination on tour.

Winning the first event of the year is an excellent start to the season for Izzi who you know will be hunting to claim her third world title this year in 2016. “Im feeling really good. I’ve been doing this event for four years and have never won it so I’m really stoked right now” exclaimed Izzi. “I’d just like to thank all of my sponsors, Starboard, Red Bull, GoPro and my coach Uncle Brian. He’s amazing and I owe it all to him for this one.”
