Maui's Paddle for a Cure event raised $36,000 for the Susan G Komen Foundation of Hawaii! Maui's Paddle for a Cure event raised $36,000 for the Susan G Komen Foundation of Hawaii!

LAHAINA, Hawaii – Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa exponentially exceeded goals for both funds raised and participation at the second annual Maui Paddle for a Cure event held on Saturday, October 3, 2015 and is continuing to raise money this month through the sales of a variety of resort offerings and specials. So far over $36,000 has been raised, all to benefit Susan G. Komen Hawaii’s mission of supporting and promoting collaborations among Hawaii’s healthcare providers and organizations and enabling implementation of culturally sensitive education, screening and treatment programs. This is the largest community or corporate fundraiser to benefit Susan G Komen Hawaii on record.

Presented in partnership with The Butterfly Effect, presenting sponsor, Maui Jim, and supporting sponsors Ka’anapali Surf Club, Pakaloha Bikinis, and Ka’anapali Golf Course, the resort’s second annual Maui Paddle for a Cure had 267 participants – more than double the participants from the first year.

“We are absolutely thrilled to present Susan G. Komen with over $36,000 to help support breast cancer education, screening and treatment here in Hawaii. We are so thankful to our sponsors, the community of Maui, and our supporters from neighbor islands and beyond for their participation in and donations to our 2nd Annual Paddle for A Cure. Breaking Susan G. Komen Hawaii’s record for a community fundraiser is an incredible achievement and we are already planning for next year in hopes of exceeding this year’s amount,” said Hyatt Regency Maui General Manager Allan Farwell.

Hawaii-based singer and musician, Anuhea performed an exclusive concert at the event after-party oceanside at Sunset Terrace for the second year, where people enjoyed food and drinks offered by Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa and coffee offered by Honolulu Coffee Company. A silent auction included stays at Hyatt Resorts in Hawaii, including Grand Hyatt Kauai, Andaz Maui and Hyatt Regency Waikiki; dinner at Maui restaurants; a signature Sally Fitzgibbons surfboard; an 808 Boards stand up paddle board and a paddle board travel bag, among other great items.
