3rd Annual Beyond The Shore Paddlefest Coming To Redondo Beach

REDONDO BEACH, California — Olympus SUP is proud to announce the 3rd Annual Beyond the Shore Paddlefest presented by Kinecta Federal Credit Union for an exciting day of Stand Up Paddle (SUP) Races, SUP Yoga and a huge all-day festival to be held on Sunday October 4th at Seaside Lagoon in Redondo Beach King Harbor from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 pm. The all-day event will feature elite, open, junior, distance and sprint races with $1500 in purse prizes. Plus, the largest SUP Yoga class to achieve the Guinness Book of World Records.

“BTS Paddlefest is a world-class event that combines SUP Races and SUP Yoga communities together to truly provide a festival for everyone,” says Jeremy Godo Kiss, Olympus SUP owner and creator of the event. “Michelle and I started BeyondtheShore.org with the hopes of making ocean conservation a part of every day living here in the South Bay. It is the support from our family and friends that has helped us to grow this world-class event. Your support can help us teach the next generation that our oceans are not something to take for granted, but something to cherish and protect. Our slogan is - To save ourselves we must first save that which lies beyond the shore.”

BeyondtheShore.org is a 501(c) (3) non-profit group with a mission to bring ocean awareness to our local community. Paddlefest was created to educate people on protection and preservation of our ocean, beaches, waves and our animal friends who inhabit the sea. All event proceeds support ocean environmental groups, Surfrider South Bay, 5 Gyres and Marine Mammal Care Center.

“We are so excited to host the event again, with so many additions this year including a purse prize for elite racers, slackline, acro yoga demos and classes. We believe this is an event for everyone – SUP racers, yogis, families, and anyone interested in a fun day on the beach,” stated Michelle Gierst, partner of Olympus SUP and SUP Yoga Instructor.

Paddlefest offers elite racers an innovative 4.5-mile ocean race with a 2-mile sprint race to follow; elite racers can compete in both for no additional fee. $1500 in purse prizes will be awarded to the top elite racers. The event will also include an open and junior 4.5-mile race, open and junior 2-mile race for both advanced and beginner paddlers. Plus, a kids 10 and under race taking place in the lagoon.

The event also includes the world’s largest SUP yoga class to be held inside King Harbor. Led by Michelle Gierst and a team of world-class yoga instructors, the 20-minute basic SUP Yoga class designed for anyone to participate in.
