Florida Retiree Completes 140-Mile Everglades Expedition

Most people celebrate retirement by taking a nice relaxing vacation and throwing a party with family and friends. For 58-year-old Mitch Lagowski, adventure was on the mind, and that he did. Upon his retirement, Mitch planned and completed a 140-mile expedition from Marco Island to Islamorada through the Florida Everglades, solo and unsupported. We caught up with Mitch to chat about his trip, check out our convo below.

SUP Treasure Hunt Returns to Florida for Second Annual Event

The second annual Red Bull Privateers standup paddle race has named a new champion in Team Flying Fish. Hundreds of participants paddled their way through the mangroves of Cape Romano and Ten Thousand Islands to compete in a pirate-inspired race, where the team who located 15 hidden doubloon-filled treasure chests and crossed the finish line the fastest took the crown.

Red Bull Privateers Returns to Marco Island

The Red Bull Privateers stand up paddleboard (SUP) race is back for the second-straight year and scheduled to take place on Cape Romano, just south of Marco Island, Florida for a full event weekend from Friday to Sunday, February 15-17, including the competition and a beach cleanup, among other activities.

Paddle at the Porch Returns to Destin on Aug. 18

The 7th Annual Paddle at the Porch Sponsored by Destin ER, a stand up paddle board race, will take place on Saturday, Aug. 18, in the beautiful emerald green Gulf waters behind The Back Porch Seafood & Oyster House in Destin, Fla.

Florida Paddler’s Chica Libre Crossing To Set World Record

On June 26, 2018, Victoria Burgess of Southern Florida will attempt to set a world record by stand up paddling across the Straits of Florida from Cuba to Key West. Dubbed the Chica Libre SUP Crossing, Burgess plans to paddle the 100+ miles within 30 hours to officially claim the Guinness world record title for first female to stand up paddle across the Florida Straits.

Red Bull Hosting SUP Treasure Hunt

For the first time, Red Bull Privateers SUP Race will take place on Cape Romano, just South of Marco Island, Florida on Saturday, February 10, 2018. In this unique racing event, teams of four paddlers (both Professional and Amateur) have two and a half hours to navigate through the mangrove mazes of the Ten Thousand Islands to retrieve treasure from fifteen hidden treasure chests.
