4. Alex Mauer In Winter Training

~·HEAT SCORE {41}·~ For those of you who haven't heard, Alex Mauer is currently in preparation to break the world record for the longest time spent surfing a wave - a monumental feat by all standards. With winter in full swing and conditions around Colorado on the frigid side, he's taking every opportunity that presents itself to train. When a lull in the driving snow popped up, Alex leaped on the chance to get his booties wet.

3. Supconnect Profile: Lance Erickson

~·HEAT SCORE {50}·~ Last week Supconnect profiled Lance Erickson: paddler, shaper, surfer, racer, long-distance paddler, adoring husband and all-round man of the sea with a thousand stories up his sleeve. For those of you that don't know him, he's the eternal grom, always stoked to get in the water and always challenging himself to try new things - even after nearly five decades.

2. hANOHANO hUKI oCEAN cHALLENGE SET FOR JANUARY

~·HEAT SCORE {63}·~ Hanohano Outrigger Canoe Club, Huki Outrigger, Maui Jim and Ocean Minded are set to host the 18th annual Hanohano Huki Ocean Challenge in Mission Bay, San Diego, on January 25th, 2014 - one of the our favorite events on the calendar. It's one of the Longest Running Paddlesport Races in California (OC-1, Surfski, Traditional Paddleboard, Standup Paddleboard and Kayak), bringing together a great mix of professional athletes, amateurs and beginners between the ages of 7-80.

1. nEW oNLINE pLATFORM TO sHARE SUP, Surf and kite With world

~·HEAT SCORE {75}·~ Traveling aborad on a SUP, surf or kiting holiday can be an expensive luxury - airlines aren't scared to charge an arm and a leg for boards and equipment. This familiar dilemma is exactly what spurred Richard Klomp and Rob Silva onto creating a new online platform, called 'Shurfing'. It's basically a global community of paddlers, surfers and kite boarders who are willing to rent their equipment out to visiting brothers and sisters. To find out more about this interesting new venture, we spoke with Richard.
