With around 650 registered participants, and close to 600 total unique bodies, the 2015 Hanohano was a massive success despite any threats to the paddlers from the razor blades scare earlier in the week. The Hanohano even attracted the attention and presence of elite athletes Danny Ching (404), Annabel Anderson, Candice Appleby (FCS), and Anthony Vela among others. There were 45 vendor booths on hand aiding the crowds with knowledge on their products and gear and letting products be demo-ed and tested in the calm waters of Mission Bay.

The kids' races are always an exciting part of the day that everyone looks forward to at the Hanohano. This year there were around 50 kids competing across the various kids divisions highlighting just how quickly our sport is growing.
"Every year Hanohano Outrigger Canoe Club pulls together to offer a unique race and festival experience for paddlers of all ages and abilities" said Event Director, Dan Van Dyck. "I believe that it is our spirit of "Aloha" and concept of "Ohana" that makes the Hanohano Huki Ocean Challenge such a popular event. We are all part of a big family; Sponsors, Vendors, juniors, beginners and professionals no matter what you choose to paddle. Our handful of major partners: Huki Outrigger, Hoven Vision, Aztek Paddles, Essentia Water, Isle SUP & Surf, Lightspeed Outdoors and Virus Action Wear all share in our philosophy of inclusion and sustainable growth."
Cheers to another great year at the Hanohano and we look forward to attending once again next year.
