Father to Paddle 200 Miles to Raise Awareness for Rare Disease

In July 2016, Rich Wygand’s first child, Luke, was born with a rare genetic disorder causing severe muscle weakness called Nemaline Myopathy (NM). Rich is planning to paddle 200 miles on his stand up paddle (SUP) board from Lake Worth Beach to Key West, Florida in June of 2018 in an effort to raise awareness and funds for the rare disease that affects his son.

Paddle Boarder Survives Shark Attack Off Cape Cod Beach

Cleveland Bigelow was paddle boarding at Marconi Beach on Wednesday when a shark attacked his paddle board in only three feet of water. Thankfully the shark only took an exploratory bite on his board, and knocked the 69-year-old paddle boarder off of his board.

Big Ben Opens Rare Chance to Paddle the Thames

The Big Ben Challenge in Central London is allowing for a rare chance to paddle the River Thames. To date, fewer than 20 people have raced there and perhaps fewer than 100 have paddled SUPs there. By participating in the Ben Ben Race you will be among the first.

SUPIA Hosting 1st Annual East Coast Summit

New this year the Stand Up Paddle Industry Association (SUPIA) has announced an East Coast Summit for the paddle sport industry. Similar to their summit held on the West Coast annually, the SUPIA Industry Edge is a two part Leadership Summit addressing the most pressing issues facing the Paddlesports Industry today.
