4. RACE THE LAKE OF THE SKY

Heat Score - 68

This weekend the third annual Race The Lake Of The Sky ran in graceful fashion at South Lake Tahoe - a heavenly setting for any occasion if we've ever seen one. As far as events go, Race The Lake Of The Sky has earned a big reputation in a short period of time for being a fun, friendly gathering of SUP athletes, enthusiasts and vendors. Supconnect's owner and founder, Andre Niemeyer, was there, recording videos for our Field Notes video section.

Heat Score - 77

Ultra-marathon paddler and super-human, Shane Perrin, recently completed another phenomenal journey, circumnavigating the US Virgin Islands of St. Thomas and St. John. One of his sponsors, Vertical Oar, is in the process of establishing an adventure race in the Virgin Islands; an event that resembles the lovechild of Survivor and the Amazing Race. It's an exciting prospect and definitely something we'd be interested in watching when it gets off the ground.

Grammy Award winning country singer, Carrie Underwood, can add one more winning quality to her public portfolio - she SUP's. That's a big one in our eyes. The former American Idol was spotted stand up paddle boarding in Canada.

1. SUP Malaysia

Heat Score - 82

Last week's top story featured Fanatic International team rider, Kyron Rathbone, surfing the Malaysian tidal bore between Bakong and Sri Aman. It's far from your average SUP travel destination, but the rewards for going off the beaten tack and taking risks are (more often than not) great. This incredible clip produced by Clément Gargoullaud shows Kyron scoring a 28 minute ride on walls of chocolate colored water, rolling across the South East Asian countryside.
