SAN DIEGO, California - Doug Hopkins, Amundson Brand Manager details the qualities and constructions of the 11’6 TR and TRX paddle boards from Amundson SUP. He also describes who the boards are a good fit for and in what conditions they excel in. Watch the video below and learn all about these boards.

The 11’6 TR and TRX boards are grest for recreational touring for small to medium paddlers. The main advantage of the TR shape is that you have a narrow nose that lets the board cut through the chop smoothly. They also have a bit more length which helps them track better and go faster. The 11’6 are both 29 inches wide with 203 liters of volume. The boards have a raised deck to keep water off and a recessed standing area that helps get your center of gravity lower and closer to the water.

The differences between the TR and the TRX is the construction of the board. They are the same shapes built in two different technologies. The 11’6 TR is made in a rhino-lite construction. This starts with a molded core, so the foam is water proof and it’s wrapped in fiberglass with a wood in the standing area. The TRX construction has a full bamboo deck and it has a carbon bottom. This makes the board about two or three pounds lighter than the TR version. So, you’ve got two constructions to pick from for your paddling style and budget.

Both boards feature the easy-carry handle and have deck inserts to strap in in a PFD. They also have an 8mm insert on the deck where you can enter a windsurfing rig or even a fishing tackle box.
