MILLVILLE, Delaware — Paddle Second Chance (formerly Paddle Fenwick) is pleased to announce the second annual Stand-Up Paddle (SUP) board day of fun racing and fund raising for a worthy cause Operation Second Chance (OSC). OSC is a non-profit 501c organization committed to serving our wounded combat veterans and their families’ recovery and transition back to active duty or into civilian life. They truly do amazing work and have impacted countless wounded heroes’ lives.
This year’s event will kick off on Friday June 27th with paddler registration, packet pickup and a Happy Hour at The Starboards in Dewey Beach www.thestarboard.com. Race day will be Saturday June 28th at Holts Landing State Park in Millville, Delaware featuring our main event a 5.0 mile course for our fast and furious paddlers and a 2.5 mile run for our fun and festive paddlers. Holts Landing is a spectator friendly venue so please come out and cheer on your favorite paddler. Following the race events we will wrap up with an awards ceremony and community picnic for all those in attendance.
Coming off a successful 2013 inaugural launch of Paddle Second Chance (114 paddler participants and over $30,000 raised) a Delmarva tradition is born. “We are excited about the prospects of making Paddle Second Chance 2014 even bigger and better with the support of a gracious and fun loving local and national SUP community” states Walt Ellenberger PSC Chairperson.
Our returning national headline sponsor is Boardworks www.boardworkssup.com and early local sponsors include Delmarva Board Sports www.delmarvaboardsportadventures.com and Walk On Water Paddleboard Company walkonwatersupco.com and LandShark/NKS Distributors . We are seeking sponsorship from local residents and businesses for a cause that truly impacts wounded heroes’ lives.
Paddle Second Chance 2014 is officially open for “early paddler” registration. For more sponsor information and paddler and volunteer registration, please visit www.paddlesecondchance.com.
