SAN DIEGO, California – Stand Up Fitness, the nation’s leading SUP performance training provider, announces that Paddle Fit Certification has been approved by two additional national fitness accreditation entities—the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Additionally, the World Paddle Association (WPA) has partnered with Paddle Fit to offer all participants a Class 1 WPA Water-Safety Certification, among other benefits.
“We couldn’t be more excited to have the top three fitness authorities accrediting our Paddle Fit Program,” explains Brody Welte, founder of Stand Up Fitness and creator of Paddle Fit. “Having their seal of approval is a great testament to the world class programming offered by our dedicated Paddle Fit team.”
Paddle Fit marries the widely popular sport of stand up paddleboarding (SUP) with personal training and group exercise training that can be used for both personal enhancement and to establish a sound SUP business. An educational program that is rooted in fun and safety, Paddle Fit is designed to educate on topics such as water safety, boating laws, paddling technique, fitness, programming, SUP business, race training and many more. It is the most comprehensive SUP fitness program available and is applicable to anyone who wants to add SUP to their life, whether for individual growth and enjoyment or as a professional endeavor.
A new partnership with the WPA provides Paddle Fit participants with a range of benefits including a Class 1 certification, discounted liability insurance, up-to-date industry knowledge, and much more.
“The World Paddle Association is excited to be a part of Stand Up Fitness and Paddle Fit. Brody Welte provides a professional, informative and entertaining curriculum that works with and supports the WPA’s Water Safety/SUP education course,” states Byron Kurt, WPA Board of Director for Instruction and President of the World Paddle Association. “Education and communication are key elements to provide with SUP since there are so many people engaging in the sport that have not been active on the water or at all for many years. SUP allows participants easy access, a short learning curve and a sport that puts less stress on the body and joints for a great experience.”
Now offering classes from coast to coast, Paddle Fit Certification is currently offered at the new Stand Up Fitness/YOLO Board Headquarters in San Diego, CA and Jupiter Paddleboarding in Jupiter, FL. No prior SUP training is required for course participants. First Aid and CPR Certification is recommended prior to taking Paddle Fit in order to maximize the benefits of the program, however can be completed following the course.
“Learning to SUP and completing the Paddle Fit program have been life changing for me,” adds Kurt Forster, Paddle Fit graduate and St. Petersburg, FL resident. “I have not only lost 25 pounds using the Paddle Fit workout, I've stretched myself through competing and gained tremendous excitement for exploring life and creation through paddling. I have recommended the course to dozens of other paddlers from shop owners and racers to beginning paddlers—it truly offers something for everyone.”
For those interested in continuing their Paddle Fit instruction on their own, Welte recently co-authored the Paddle Fit Vook with noted fitness author Pete Williams. Paddle Fit Vook is an all-encompassing, interactive multi-media guide to SUP, educating users on everything from proper paddling technique to actual workouts and based on the same curriculum as the course. The guide was created by Vook using its innovative media platform that can easily combine a well written book, high-quality video and the power of the Internet into one complete experience.
