BIG ISLAND, Hawaii – Kai Lenny achieved a milestone in his own career today, but also for the sport of Stand Up Paddlesurfing, as he not only won the Hawaii Island Finals, but also the World Title, with a dominant performance across all 5 events in 2010.

Despite great performances from his arch rival of the year, Peyo Lizarazu, Antoine Delpero, (who he had already shared 3 Finals with) and Leco Salazar, the Brazilian phenom that joined the Tour in Brazil with a win, Kai kept his cool and rose above the odds to win the event and the Title in an emotional close to the 2010 Stand Up World Tour.

Ocean Festival, Hilo Bay

It has been a spectacular event so far here at the Hawaii Island Finals and it is certainly not over yet - still to come is the crowning of the World Champion and music driven luau on Saturday evening, the Nation's Cup ( a unique Waterman League challenge) and Na Kama Kai youth clinics for Hawaii's underprivileged youth, so a full schedule is still to come here at the Hawaii Island Finals.

On Sunday there will also be a race taking place in the morning - an open race of about 3 miles, around buoys and pretty close to shore - this is open to everyone, so grab your boards and head down to Hilo Bay this weekend - please visit www.standupworldtour.com for more info. There will also be live music running through both days and an expo, providing a completely unique Ocean Festival for Hilo town in advance of the christmas holidays.

Big Island magic

All that remains to be siad is that it has been a spectacular event and close to the season, the welcome from the County of Hawaii and Mayor Billy Kenoi has been out of this world and the beautiful people of the Big Island have opened their arms and hearts to us, and continue to do so, so we feel very blessed and fortunate. Thanks to our sponsors County of Hawaii, Naniloa Volcanoes Resort, Hulakai, Sheraton Hawaii Bowl, Steinlager, Go Mokulele, Big Island Visitors Bureau and Imiloa Planetarium. Keep an eye on www.standupworldtour,com for the latest highlights, the first of which willl be going up in the next few hours..

Aloha,

The Waterman League
