Reasons To Be Thankful For Paddle Boarding Photo: Cindy Poirier

SAN DIEGO, California - Paddle boarding is currently one of the fastest growing water sports in the world, and for good reason. There is so much to love about this sport so in honor of today's Thanksgiving Holiday here in the United States, we've decided to jot down a list of the Top 5 Reasons to be thankful for paddle boarding.

We're thankful for paddle boarding because...

1. It's Easy!

One thing we love about paddle boarding is how almost anyone can do it. Stand up paddling is unbelievably beginner-friendly and a sport that practically anyone can participate in, which is most likely a factor in why the sport is currently on the rise.

2. It's Versatile

The versatility of standup paddling is crazy! Almost anywhere you are in the world you're more likely than not able to go for a paddle. Whether you're near the beach, a lake, a river, or sometimes even in a pool, you're able to grab your paddle board and get in some fun! Also, there are so many cross overs that have happened between stand up paddling and other sports like surfing, yoga and fishing to name a few, that make the choices endless in what kinds of activities you're able to do when on the water.

3. It's Healthy

Getting on the water and paddling is a great workout and exercise, keeping you fit and healthy. You can make it an intense workout or just a casual cruise on the water, either way, you're burning calories and helping to keep your body healthy. What's better than having fun while getting and keeping yourself healthy?

4. The Community

The community that makes up the stand up paddling world is one made up of incredible individuals and groups. The SUP community is so unbelievably welcoming and supportive and it's rare to find anyone involved having a bad attitude. The people in the SUP community are the people you want to surround yourself with and with whom you want to have a great time.

5. It's Fun!

This one is obvious, but couldn't be more true! Stand up paddling is fun, plain and simple. Why else would we participate? The feeling of gliding on the water is indescribable and keeps us coming back each and every day. Even when mistakes are made and you fall off your board, chances are you're coming up with a smile thinking to yourself, "I wanna do that again!"
