Vail, Colorado – The Vail Valley Foundation and C4 Waterman announced today this year's stand-up paddling (SUP) events at the 9th annual Teva Mountain Games in Vail, CO, taking place June 3 - 6, 2010. Along with the two brand new SUP events presented by C4 Waterman added to the sport roster this year, C4 Waterman and TMG will be offering a free flat water SUP demo day in East Vail at Bighorn Park with top SUP athletes.

C4 Waterman will be bringing in several top stand-up paddling athletes from as far as Hawaii and Tahiti to Vail to participate in the events. Among the athletes competing will be C4 Waterman co-founders Dave Parmenter, Todd Bradley and Brian Keaulana, Archie Kalepa (first SUP descent of the Grand Canyon), Raimana Van Bastolaer (star of IMAX's "Ultimate Wave Tahiti"), George Cronsteadt, Charlie MacArthur (C4 team member and owner of Aspen Kayak Academy), and many more. There will also be a free C4 Waterman SUP demo day open to all Thursday, June 3 from 3:00 - 5:00pm at Big Horn Park in East Vail. And as an added bonus for SUP fans, this year's Outdoor Reels film lineup is excited to announce the addition of a SUP film presented by C4 Waterman, with details to come shortly.

"As a leader and pioneer in the industry, we saw the potential of Teva Mountain Games to take stand up paddling to a higher level, and that's why we decided to go all in," says C4 Waterman co-founder Todd Bradley. There will be plenty of equipment for sale at the C4 Waterman Booth at the Gear Town expo in Vail Village, including special limited Teva Mountain Games branded C4 Waterman SUP paddle boards. Other limited edition Eddie Bauer/First Ascent and C4 Waterman branded Teva Mountain Games apparel will also be available.

STAND-UP PADDLING EVENT SCHEDULE

*FIRST ASCENT SUP SURF SPRINT Presented by C4 Waterman
Mirrored off the classic Down River Sprint, the First Ascent SUP Surf Sprint presented by C4 Waterman is a race against the clock on the waters of Gore Creek. Anyone up to the challenge will run this 3-mile stretch from East Vail to Vail Village SUP style. Competitors must stand strong because snow melt from the nearby Gore Range makes for icy waters while navigating the class II - III rapids. Mix in a handful of low bridges, drops and wave trains, and paddlers will have to battle it out in the inaugural SUP comp on Gore Creek.

DATE: Saturday, June 5, 2010
TIME: 9:00am
LOCATION: East Vail -- Covered Bridge, Vail
COST: $35 Online; $40 On-Site

*FIRST ASCENT SUP SURF CROSS Presented by C4 Waterman
A stand up paddle battle royal on Gore Creek. Protective gear is a must for this mass-start where it's every man for himself. The first to survive the 300-yard sprint from the Covered Bridge to the International Bridge through Vail's Whitewater Park will take the top spot on the podium. Think Skier Cross on SUP boards in class II-III waters. It's going to be rowdy.

DATE: Sunday, June 6, 2010
TIME: 11:00am -- SUP Surf Cross Qualifier; 2:30pm -- SUP Surf Cross Finals
LOCATION: Covered Bridge -- International Bridge, Vail
COST: $30 Online; $35 On-Site
