SUP_Grom

This picture of a SUP grom posted by Kristen Beck reminds us that we all need to start somewhere and that sometimes we are even lucky enough to have a spotter! Spreading the SUP stoke is what it is all about, whether on calm waters in a protected bay, fever-fast whitewater in a strong river or riding on the backs of watery giants in a South Pacific island chain, sharing our skills with another is key.

Go here for the full set of pictures from Kristen's SUP grom session.

Speaking of watery giants....

Those who think there are no waves on the East Coast need to check out this photo album posted by SUP Connecter Chris Hill. With a simple description of his album, “We do have waves on the East Coast”, Chris lets the photos speak for themselves.

Above, a SUP surfer sets his rail on the bottom of an excellent right-hander. His paddle traces the dimpled face as a massive lip crushes and explodes behind him. The off-shore winds send their spray off the back as he plots his line of attack.

This photo, posted by SUP Connecter Ernie Brassard, was taken at the 2011 TA-HOE NALU Paddle Festival held at Kings Beach in beautiful Lake Tahoe. This year’s event included two days of fun for all ages and skill levels with SUP, Prone and OC1 divisions. The Elite Race was a 14’ Class for men and 12’6” for women.

This year’s Elite Race was won by Danny Ching and Candice Appleby who both took home a piece of the $10,000 prize money. For a full listing of event results, go to the TA-HOE NALU Paddle Festival official website here.

Morgan Becker

After spending the first part of her life in Minnesota, Morgan traded in her snow boots for sandals and moved to sunny California. After graduating with a degree in Communication from The University of Southern California, she eventually made her way down south to San Diego and is taking advantage of the living by the best beaches and burritos California has to offer. If it’s sunny, you can find her at the beach relaxing, or exploring the calm water in the bay via paddleboards and kayaks.
