Appleby and Vela Launch Performance Padding

Candice Appleby and Anthony Vela launched their new business in style.· In conjunction with i9 Media, Performancepaddling.com has features and content that will put it among the top websites in the industry.

SAN CLEMENTE, California – Performance Paddling offers a variety of services including: SUP Racing Clinics (for intermediate to advance paddlers), Kids SUP Camps, Corporate Team Building, and Personal Coaching.  With their combined 40 years of competitive experience in just about every ocean discipline, Candice and Anthony bring together a wide range of skills in a fun and engaging style.  (Clinic Schedule Link)

The first ever of its kind, Performance Paddling kicked off the weekend of festivities with its Elite SUP Race camp. Candice and Anthony invited 10 of the finest stand up paddlers in the country to take part in this fun and challenging camp at Baby Beach in Dana Point.  Young paddlers from Florida, Hawaii, Lake Tahoe, Santa Barbara, and Orange County were hand selected for this elite coaching session with Appleby and Vela.  A handful of these young paddlers also got a chance to visit Quickblade paddles Friday for a field trip and are among a short list of paddlers to get the opportunity to paddle in Jimmy Terrell’s paddle tank. Saturday, the groms were also invited to the website launch party following the Elite SUP Racing camp.

That evening Paddle Surf Warehouse opened its doors for a unique website launch party.  It was a who’s who of SUP racers and surfers including 10X world champion Jamie Mitchell.  Jamie took time from his epic journey of big wave riding to encourage the kids and support his friends’ new business venture.  After catching big swell in Hawaii (Wednesday), Mavericks (Thursday) and Todos Santos (Friday), JM10 had enough energy to stop by and share his love for the sport of paddling.

After navigating through the site and all the services that Performance Paddling provides, Appleby and Vela surprised the kids when revealing the Performance Paddling Competition Team. With this team debut, the two have committed to coaching and mentoring the 10 young athletes with monthly training sessions and personal coaching.

“We’re trying to create another community within the community. There is no structure for the kids or parents and we hope that this team will be able create a network of support between the parents and kids. Many of the kids have sponsors as well; the Performance Paddling Competition Team allows the kids to still feel a team camaraderie even though many of them ride for different companies. Our goal is to be able to share our skills and experiences with the children to help improve their skills, but in a fun, pressure free environment,” explains Candice.

15 year old Naish Team Rider, Tucker Ingalls, was selected as the team’s captain.  “We feel Tucker has learned the core values from his family and mentors that make the younger team members a positive, young role model.”  Tucker also rides for Teva, Oakley, Quickblade, and FCS.  He is an outstanding racer and one of the top young SUP surfers in the world.  “We are honored Tucker accepted our invitation to be a mentor to his younger teammates.”

This elite group of paddlers will receive coaching from Candice, Anthony and their many friends around the world.
