“Another Dam Race”- Happening This Weekend!

Another-Dam-Race

Part of the venue at "Another Dam Race".

PARKER, Arizona - Saturday November 3, 2012

When people think of SUP races and events, they often think of tropical venues with the smell of the ocean and palm trees swaying in the wind. ·However, this is what·makes Another Dam Race unique.· First, it’s in the desert instead of an ocean or bay and racers will be paddling down the Colorado River.· Second, the race begins at the Parker Dam, which is in California and finishes at the Blue Water Resort and Casino in Arizona so participants will paddle through two different states!

This event is open to all types of paddlers. These include: OC-1, OC-2, OC-6, Surfski/Kayaks and SUP Boards.· Currently there are 326 total participants that are registered for the 10.5 run down the River.· The organizers are planning a 2-3 mph current running in the direction of the paddlers with no white water.

Packet pick-up and cash registration is Friday, November 2nd from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. at the Bluewater Resort and Casino.· The organizers highly recommend that racers do this on Friday instead of on race day.· If you do plan on picking up your packet on race day, registration opens at 7:00 a.m. at River Lodge, where the race begins.

The first 300 at packet pick-up will receive a free race t-shirt.· Also included in the race fees are: tons of schwag (who doesn’t love schwag!?), pre-race morning treats and Mudshark Brewing Company Steins for 1st place in each division.· The 2nd and 3rd·place finishers in each division will receive shot glasses.· There will be a raffle to win incredible prizes and an amazing lunch plate with a Mudshark Brewery Beach Party that will run well into the evening.
