A 5.7 Mile Paddle Race to Benefit Sandy Victims

freezin-4-a-reason-1

VENTOR, New Jersey - It may seem like a really crazy time and place to be having a stand up paddle race in the dead of an east coast winter with the possibility of freezing temperatures, but there are still a large amount of people in New Jersey and New York without heat in their homes.

The organizers ask that paddlers everywhere please donate what you can to the cause, even if you're not at the race.

Freezin for a Reason will be a 5.7 mile paddleboard/ sup race, and a 2.5 mile recreation paddle around Ventnor Heights and Chelsea Heights in Ventnor, NJ. The exciting aspect of this event is that all of the proceeds will go to Waves 4 Water's Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund.

There is a $30 entrance fee which will also provide a wrist band to an after party at Tomatoes in Margate, NJ. The race is out of Viking Rowing Club on Surrey and Calvert Ave in Ventnor, NJ.

Sign Ups start at 10:00 am on the day of the race followed by the start at 11:00 am. The after Party begins at 2:00 pm and will last until 5:00 pm.  If you did not race it will cost $20 to enter. There will be great food, music, and more.
