Come join in the fun and burn off that pumpkin pie!
SAN DIEGO, California – Friday, November 23, 2012 the San Diego Canoe and Kayak Team is hosting its 3rd annual Turkey Paddle Potluck. ·All are invited so come out and burn off that turkey dinner and race for silly prices. ·If you don’t have a board, that’s ok, demo boards will be available!
Registration is at 9:30 am (the island is closed from 7 – 9 am due to a triathlon) and the first race begins at 10:30 a.m . ·There is a silly twist to the race. If you came last year, then you know what it is. ·The first 125 to register get a cool t-shirt. $25 donation for adults $20 donation for youths. 100% tax deductible and all proceeds to benefit the youths at SDCKT, please write your checks out to SDCKT if you want to use the deduction. Credit cards accepted.
Board Classes: We are trying to make it simple so there will only be one board class. Men, please try to stick to 14’ or under. Women, please stick to 12’6” or under. If you only have a longer board, then by all means, still come, but you may be subject to a dragging pumpkin requirement. Ha!
Divisions for the 3-mile race:18 & under women; 18 & under men 19 – 49 women; 19 – 49 men 50+ women; 50+ men 2 woman relay 2 man relay Mixed relay Tandem relay (2 people, 2 paddles and 1 board, all at the same time)
Course for the 3 mile: 2 loops around the “enchanted island” Awards: awards to all youths 14 & under and to 3-mile division winners Bring: SUP *paddle Kids 11 & under will need a lifejacket. We have them if you don’t. Family, friends, and first-timers BYO drinks and a dish to share Beach chairs + beach blankets.
