2012 Supconnect Awards Schedule & Info.

Paddlers have already had so much fun during the SUP Man of the Year open nomination phase, and currently with the SUP Man of the Year final, that it's triggered more excitement and curiosity about other upcoming Supconnect award categories and when each contest will take place.  Read more for answers!

Antoine Delpero was the Supconnect SUP Man of the Year 2011.


SAN DIEGO, California - There is a lot of excitement this year surrounding the 3rd annual 2012 Supconnect Awards.  As a result of tremendous fun during the SUP Man of the Year open nomination phase and currently with the SUP Man of the Year final phase, many people have inquired about other upcoming Supconnect awards and when each contest will take place. Well, look no further!  Below is a list of all the 2012 Supconnect award categories and the schedule for when each one will be open for voting.

Sup Man of the Year:

Final: July 20, 2012 - August 31, 2012  - Currently Running... CLICK HERE TO VOTE

SUP Grom of the Year:

Open Nominations: August 1, 2012 - August 31, 2012

Final: September 1, 2012 - September 30, 2012

SUP Woman of the Year:

Open Nominations: September 1, 2012 to September 30, 2012·

Final: October 1, 2012 to October 31, 2012

SUP Shaper of the Year:

Open Nominations: October 1, 2012 to October 31, 2012

Final: November 1, 2012 to November 30, 2012

SUP Photo of the Year: 

Final: December 1, 2012 to December 31, 2012

2012 Supconnect Contest Procedures:

This year it is important to remember that each Supconnect award category (with the exception of the sup photo of the year contest) will have 2 phases.·The first will be an open nomination phase where anyone can be nominated to join a SUP Award category. ·The top 5 vote getter's from the open nomination phase will automatically advance to the final phase and compete against pre-seeded athletes/individuals for the Supconnect Award Title.  All pre-seeded athletes/individuals will be notified by Supconnect that they do not need to be nominated in the open nomination phase and are automatically in the final phase of their respective category.  Supconnect also has the priviledge of adding honorary paddlers/individuals to each contest category as they see fit and deserving based on contest criteria (see below). 

2012 Supconnect Award Winner Selection Criteria:

The public vote count is very important but all final contest winners are chosen based on all of the following criteria.

1. Ambassadorship:  Conveying the cheerfulness and inclusiveness characteristic of the sport.

2. Involvement:  Attending events and gatherings, having a finger on the pulse of the sport.

3. Performance:  Showing proficiency in the sport, though top results are not a requirement.

4. Support:  Having a following and votes to show you have some support to validate your credibility.
