Paddle Board Highlights

Who is it for?

The Aqua Marina Super Trip Tandem is designed for paddlers who want to share the experience on the water. Whether you're paddling with a partner, family member, child, or even bringing along a dog and extra gear, this board is built around maximizing space and stability.

At 14 feet long, 34 inches wide, and 8 inches thick, it's one of the largest inflatable paddleboards in Aqua Marina's lineup. With a maximum weight capacity of 661 pounds, the Super Trip Tandem is designed to comfortably support multiple paddlers without compromising stability.

The board features Aqua Marina's Drop Stitch Light Technology, combining a double-wall fabric drop stitch core with reinforced PVC rail layers and a machine-pressed EVA deck pad. The result is a durable, rigid board that still packs down into a portable travel bag.

One of the thoughtful design features is the dual cargo storage system. In addition to Aqua Marina's signature ultra-elastic RED STRAP™ bungee system at the nose, there's a second storage area positioned in the middle of the board for a second paddler. It's a small detail that reinforces the board's purpose-built tandem design.

The Super Trip Tandem also features multiple carry handles positioned throughout the board, making it easier to transport and launch with two people. Aqua Marina's patented Swift Attach Fin System allows both fins to be installed quickly without tools, while the rubber-patched air valve provides a premium finish and improved airtightness.

Everything needed to get started is included in the package, including the carrying bag, two hand pumps, and two removable fins. Including two pumps is a particularly thoughtful addition, allowing two people to inflate the board together and cut setup time nearly in half.

Overall, the Super Trip Tandem is best suited for families, couples, and recreational paddlers looking for maximum stability, generous deck space, and the ability to comfortably bring another passenger or additional gear along for the adventure.

First Impressions

The first thing that stands out about the Super Trip Tandem is its size. At 14 feet long, this is a substantial board, and it immediately gives the impression that it's built for carrying more than just a single paddler.

Once inflated, the board feels impressively rigid, and the wide platform inspires confidence right away. Even when paddled solo during our testing, it felt incredibly stable and forgiving.

It's worth noting that we did not have the opportunity to paddle the board with a second rider onboard. However, after spending time on the board and seeing just how much usable deck space is available, it's easy to understand why this board is so well suited for tandem paddling and family outings.

One thing we noticed during our testing is that, because of its size, the board requires a little more effort to maneuver than a traditional all-around paddleboard when paddling solo. That's an expected tradeoff for a board that's designed to carry significantly more weight and provide exceptional stability.

The same is true when transporting the board. While the multiple carry handles are a welcome feature, we found the board was a bit cumbersome to carry alone. This is clearly a board that's at its best when used as intended—with a second paddler available to help carry, launch, and enjoy the experience together.

We also appreciated several of the smaller design details. The center cargo area is positioned exactly where a second paddler can easily access their gear, and the tool-less Swift Attach Fin System makes setup quick and straightforward.

Overall, what impressed us most wasn't just the size—it was how purpose-built the board feels. Rather than simply stretching a standard paddleboard into a larger version, Aqua Marina clearly designed the Super Trip Tandem around the needs of couples, families, and recreational paddlers who want to share their time on the water.

If you're looking for a stable, spacious inflatable paddleboard that's built for tandem adventures and carrying plenty of gear, the Aqua Marina Super Trip Tandem is an excellent option that's thoughtfully designed from bow to stern.

Benefits

  • Primary Use

    Touring

Paddle Boards fall into two broad categories, All-Around and Specialty boards, with all-around designed primarily for recreation while speciality boards for top performance in specific disciplines

  • Durability

    Average

Durability is largely a result of the board construction and shape, with more durable boards typically carrying more materials (added layers, PVC, etc) and as such adding to the weight.

  • Carrying

    Average

Carrying ease is determined by board weight and handle type, where a board weighing under 20lbs with a Liftsup handle is extremely easy to carry while a 35+lbs board quite difficult.

  • Stability

    Very Stable

Stability is a product of construction and shape, where boards w/ 30”+ wide and 200+ liters in volume offer plenty of stability for your AVG adult while a board under 26” wide is a challenge.

  • Glide

    Average

Glide is a result of board shape and construction, w/ boards weighing under 30lbs and designed for racing offering best glide while recreational boards normally being on the slow side.

Features

  • Dimensions

    14' x 34" x 8"

Industry standard in board dimensions reads: L (length, from nose to tail) x W (width, from rail to rail at midpoint length), and H (height, from top to bottom of board at midpoint length).

  • Weight

    30.2 lbs

Standup paddle boards tend to fall into 4 different weight classes: extremely lightweight (under 20 lbs), lightweight (20-28 lbs), average weight (28-35 lbs), heavy (above 35 lbs).

  • Volume

    670 L

Volume is a key metric to determine how much weight a board can carry. Boards w/ 200+ liters offer most floatation with boards under 150 liters typically for high-performance surf.

  • Capacity

    661 lbs

Capacity is the max cargo weight a stand up paddle board can carry, considering not only the paddler’s weight but whatever else the paddler may choose to carry alongside him/her

  • Handle

    Strap

Handles directly affect carrying ease, with external grip handles (Liftsup & EZgrab) offering most comfort, Internal Ergo Grip the mid-tier comfort, and box handles as least comfortable.

  • Holders

    No

Fishing rod holders and/or paddle holders can make paddling that much more pleasant, esp. when needing holders for the rod or having a safe place for the paddle during yoga.
