Delete YourSupconnect Account

How to delete your Supconnect account on supconnect.com or in the Supconnect app, what we delete, and what we keep and for how long.

Supconnect, LLC runs supconnect.com and the Supconnect app. This page explains how to delete your Supconnect account, what is deleted when you do, and the few records we keep afterwards and for how long. Deleting your account cannot be undone. If you want a copy of what you have saved and posted, choose Download Your Data in Settings first.

Delete Your Account Yourself

On the website

  1. Sign in at supconnect.com.
  2. Open Settings from the account menu.
  3. Under Delete Your Account, choose Open Your Account, then Security, then Delete account.

In the Supconnect app

Go to You › Delete Account.

Either way, the account is deleted the moment you confirm. Clerk, the service that runs sign-in for us, removes your sign-in details and tells our database, which deletes your data as described below.

If You Cannot Sign In

Email info@supconnect.com from the email address on your account, with the subject "Delete my account". To make sure the request comes from you, we match it to that address and may write back to it before we act. We delete the account within 30 days of receiving your request.

What We Delete

When your account is deleted, we delete:

  • your sign-in details at Clerk: your email address, name, picture and sign-in records;
  • your member record and profile settings: display name, handle, bio, home city, units, your answers to the welcome questions and your email notice choices;
  • your profile page and any profile photo you uploaded;
  • every save in your guide and your shared guide links, which stop working;
  • your follows, in both directions, and any follow requests;
  • the Power Score athletes you follow;
  • the members you blocked;
  • every post you made, with its photos, taken off the site and the files deleted;
  • every photo you added to a place, taken off the site and the files deleted;
  • your reviews of places, and your reports of reviews and of posts;
  • your listing claims and event organizer claims, and any Host application;
  • the messages and replies you sent to a city Host or, as a Host, to paddlers;
  • your athlete claims, the home cities you chose and your rank notices;
  • your notifications and the record of reminders we sent you;
  • your Paddle Connect profile, connections and paddles: an upcoming paddle you proposed is cancelled first and the paddlers in it are told;
  • paddles you recorded in the Supconnect app, with their tracks;
  • your Test Course runs.

What We Keep, and For How Long

A few records outlive the account, because other people rely on them or because we need them to run the site safely. None of them is linked to your account after it is deleted unless we say so here.

  • Messages with other members. The other member keeps the conversation, so they do not lose their side of it. Your messages show as "Former member" and nobody can reply. The conversation is deleted for good once both members have deleted their accounts.
  • Reports you made of a member's message, a paddler, a paddle, a profile photo or a problem with a place stay with our editors without your member ID. Reports of messages and of paddlers are deleted 24 months after an editor decides on them; reports about a paddle are deleted with the paddle, 24 months after it took place.
  • Changes you made to listings. Edits to a place, an event you organize or a club meet-up, and replies you posted to reviews as a business, stay in that listing's history without your member ID.
  • A business's only approved claim. If yours was the only approved claim on a business, we keep that claim's business email and phone, no longer linked to you, so we can reach the business about its listing.
  • A city Host profile. If you were a Host, your Host profile comes off the site and we keep only your display name, so the paddlers who wrote to you still see who their conversation was with.
  • Race results. Results on the Power Score are public race records from their organizers, not account data, so they stay. Your disputes and correction requests about an athlete record stay without your member ID. If you raced and do not want your name listed, write to info@supconnect.com to ask us to hide it: within 14 days your name comes off every page and your results show as "Athlete withdrew".
  • Abuse limits. To stop abuse we count how often each account does things such as posting or sending messages. These counters carry your member ID and are deleted once they are two days old.
  • Our editors' decision log. When an editor approves, hides or removes something, we record the decision, who made it and what it was about. An entry can name an item you added or, for a suspension, your member ID. We keep this log as our audit record, with no set expiry.
  • The Weekly Recap. Deleting your account does not unsubscribe you from our newsletter. Use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any issue; Mailchimp keeps a record that you unsubscribed so you are not emailed again.
  • Things you sent us through a form or by email, such as an event or photos, are kept for at most 24 months, as our privacy policy describes.
  • Backups. Our hosting, database and email providers keep backups for a limited period under their own policies, after which they expire.
