CENTER BARNSTEAD, New Hampshire -- Standup Journal's soon to be released "Summer 2011" issue will be the four-year-old magazine's biggest yet, and the young sport of standup paddling's thickest publication ever.

At 184 pages it was "the issue that wouldn't die," quips Journal publisher Clay Feeter, who's average per issue page count has jumped from 120 pages in 2008 to 164 pages in 2010... to this latest issue's 184 pages (by comparison, Surfer's Journal averages 132 pages).

The new issue is the largest yet because of the advertising, "because we always strive to deliver to our readers at least a 65/35% editorial-to-advertising ratio" notes Feeter, who adds, "it's also a huge issue because of the expanded back section that is filled with the sport's first ever 'Who's Who in the Sup Industry' biographies and mug shots."

Feeter says the "Who's Who" pages consist of more than 250 leaders in the manufacturing, retail and media sector of the booming sport that this year saw store chains such at LL Bean and Eastern Mountain Sports pick up lines of standup paddling equipment."

The Journal's "Summer" issue that mailed to subscribers last week and hits US and Canadian newsstands June 21st also highlights the publication's second annual "Junior of the Year" award that goes to Maui standup standout, 16 year old Connor Baxter who just placed 3rd in May's elite men's class of the Waikiki Rainbow Sandals Gerry Lopez Battle of the Paddle.

The "Summer" issue is also a California Battle of the Paddle (see photos) preview edition with stories by present Doheny Beach BoP champs Candice Appleby and Danny Ching, and by event namesake Gerry Lopez. Standup Journal is "The Original Standup Paddling Mag." Founded in June, 2007, their first edition hit newsstands in March 2008.
