SAN DIEGO, CA – 10K (6.2 miles) Stand Up Paddle event hosted by Strength To Serve (STS) and·PaddleFit, benefitting Urban Street Angels (USA), being held at 9 AM, Saturday, May, 18, 2013 at the Coronado Boat·House and Club Room, 1985 Strand Way, Coronado, CA 92118. USA is a volunteer-based non-profit outreach who·passes out backpacks with life necessities, warm meals, and distributes resources on shelters, youth services,·medical care, and job opportunities to homeless young people sleeping on the streets of San Diego, California.
Â
STS’s purpose is to align coaches, athletes, trainers, and gyms whose mission and culture seek to bring life, hope, and healing. They do this through providing unique opportunities to foster community formation through physically challenging training and events that raise money and awareness for life-giving non-profits.
Â
The Paddle, held on May 18, 2013, is an example of one of STS’s events, where they have partnered with PaddleFit (created by Coach Brody Welte – a world renown stand up paddle coach) with the goal of raising $18,000, which will be used to purchase 600 packs filled with socks, toiletries, sunblock, deodorant, bottle water, and other life necessities, and distributed to the homeless youth living in the streets of San Diego.
