SAN DIEGO, California - In January of 2012 Bret Warner's father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Shortly after this, while speaking with a friend from college, he learned that his friends grandmother had also been afflicted. In the ensuing time both Bret and his friend saw first hand what Alzheimer’s can do to families, and observed the ravaging effects it can have on individuals with the disease.

In an attempt to make a palpable impact against this disease, and feel like they could make a positive contribution in honor of their family members, Bret and his friends decided to hold the first annual Stand Up To Alzheimer’s sup races and sup/kayak fishing contest.  As a result, there will be a 5 mile race, 1 mile race, kid’s race, and a fishing contest all of which will take place on March 16 at Bahia Point in Mission Bay, San Diego.

Not only will all proceeds go to an Alzheimer's research organization, but hopefully the event will grow into becoming an annual activity that helps promote the kind of healthy and active lifestyle that helps stave off this disease.  The organizers would love to have your help  in making this a popular and fun race for years to come.

Regardless of wether you have had a lot of experience or you have never yet set foot on a Stand Up Paddleboard, this will be an event everyone can enjoy.  Anyone with a desire to help the cause and have a great time is more than welcome to come and participate.  There will even be a limited number of loaner boards available for people to use if they sign up early.

Everyone looks forward to seeing you there!
