Faaker See Island Lap
One lap of The Lake Rocks race loop around the island in Faaker See, counterclockwise from the shore at Strandcamping Gruber: about 2.5 mi (4 km) on a small alpine lake with almost no motor boats.
Provisional line · Times: not yet
Provisional line: drawn from the organizer's course map, not yet measured. Times on it are provisional until a measured GPS trace verifies it. Not paddled yet: the north line is fitted to the organizer's 4 km, and the passage west of the island is 34 m wide in OpenStreetMap, narrow enough that its depth should be checked on the water. Mirrors no race: reference times are modelled from comparable races.

A Standard Course
A standard course mirrors no race. It is a fixed loop on flat water with no known current, open to anyone from a public launch, so you can paddle it on any day and set your time against the reference times and the board. With no race of its own, it has no course record from race results, and its reference times are modelled from comparable races.
The Water
No current or tide · Fetch 1.4 mi (2.3 km) · Limited boat traffic · Public launch, fee applies
Current and Tide. A lake fed by small streams (the Worounitza and Rotschitza) and drained by the Faaker Seebach to the Gail, with a water residence time of about 1.8 years: no current on the course.
Wind. The lake is 2.3 km long and 1.7 km wide, so the fetch is about 2 km at most and wind chop stays small. We found no published local wind pattern; check the forecast before you go.
Traffic. No jet skis and no private combustion engines: combustion-engined boats only under a commercial licence (at most two, plus passenger boats over 20 people) and one work boat for the island; electric boats are allowed, rental ones up to 500 W. Expect electric rental boats, pedal boats and the island hotel's water taxi from the landing at Faak.
Launch. Launch from the Siedlerstrand (Siedlerbad), the public lawn and beach just south of Strandcamping Gruber, free to enter. From May to October paddling on Faaker See needs a paid ticket, sold at the tourist information in Drobollach and Faak am See; guests staying overnight at the lake get it free as a wristband from their accommodation.
Reference Times
Reference times appear once the current Power Score list holds enough comparable races: at least 3 races of a similar distance, with 30 rated finishers in the table.
Course Board
No course times on the board yet. Run this course with the Supconnect app and put your time on the board.
One time per paddler per board: their fastest, recorded live in the app and checked against the course. Only adults are shown.
This line is provisional, not yet measured: times on it, and their Virtual Power Score, are provisional until a measured GPS trace verifies it.

How Course Times Work
A course time is your time on this course, paddled on your own on a day you choose: from the start gate to the finish gate, through every gate in order. It is not a race result. There is no field to beat, and wind, current and water change from day to day, so a time always shows with its date, board class and the wind at the start.
The Virtual Power Score is a translation of a course time to the Power Score scale, with a band, worked out from comparable races, since a standard course mirrors no race. It is labelled as virtual everywhere it appears. It is never in the Power Score: not in any rankings table, the Overall, Compare, the nations, a Top 10 or search, and it never moves anyone's rating.
Course times are private unless you put one on the board. Only adults appear on a board, and a junior is never named. More on course times →
A lap of about 2.5 mi (4 km) around the island in Faaker See, the loop The Lake Rocks PRO race paddles three times, run counterclockwise from the shore at Strandcamping Gruber. This course mirrors no race: its reference times are modelled from comparable races. Launch from the Siedlerstrand, the free public lawn just south of the campsite. From May to October paddling on the lake needs a ticket from the tourist information in Drobollach or Faak am See; if you stay overnight at the lake, ask your accommodation for the free wristband.
The gates are lines across the water: start between the Gruber shore and the east tip of the island, head north through the passage east of the island and on up the east side until you are past the line just north of Strandbad Egg, cross the north basin towards Panorama Beach, come back south through the narrow passage west of the island, then round the south basin back to the start line.
The lake has no jet skis and almost no combustion engines, but expect electric rental boats, pedal boats, swimmers off the beaches in summer and the island hotel's water taxi from Faak. The west passage is narrow: take it slowly.
Sources
Course line (version 1): Drawn from the organizer's race-track map for The Lake Rocks Long Distance PRO race (2023): a 4 km lap from the SUP Village at Strandcamping Gruber, run counterclockwise, north up the east side of the lake past the island, west across the north basin towards Panorama Beach, south through the passage west of the island, round the south basin and back to the start. The map is an illustration with no buoy positions, so the gates are lines from OpenStreetMap (the lake and island outlines, relation 373291): the start off the Gruber shore, the passages between the island and the shore on each side, and a line across the north basin, placed so that the lap measures the organizer's 4 km. The drawn line measures 4,040 m.
