How Course Times Work
A course time is your time on this course, paddled on your own on a day you choose: from the start gate to the finish gate, through every gate in order. It is not a race result. There is no field to beat, and wind, current and water change from day to day, so a time always shows with its date, board class and the wind at the start.

The long distance at The Big Paddle Festival, a European SUP League stop on Lake Zurich: three laps of about 1.2 mi (2 km), 3.7 mi (6 km) in all, from the Horn, the little peninsula at Richterswil. Each lap on the organizer's map runs out from the start, south around the tip of the Horn, then up the bay to the northwest for about half a mile (700 m) to the turns off the shore, and back down the shore to the start.
On your own the race buoys are gone, so the gates are lines off the shore: the start line on the north side of the Horn, the tip of the Horn, a line across the bay just short of the northern turns and the shore at the northwest turn. Paddle the three laps start to start.
The water off the tip of the Horn is shallow, mapped as a reef; the race's buoys take you over it, so watch your fin.

Course line (version 1): Drawn from the organizer's own Google Earth map ("TBP & ESL Maps", the Long Distance Track): the start and finish and eight buoys at the coordinates the map gives, joined in their order. One corner is added so the line rounds the tip of the Horn on OpenStreetMap water rather than across it. The organizer's lap outline measures 2,000 m; the drawn lap measures about 1,996 m.
