SUP Company Signs Jaime Mitchell

LAGUNA BEACH, California - Stand Up Paddle Company, Laguna Beach’s premier West Coast SUP store recently signed the world-renowned SUP athlete, critical waterman, and undisputable the world’s greatest ocean paddler Jamie Mitchell. Jamie, hailing from the town of Currumbin in the Gold Coast of Australia, is the 9-time consecutive winner of the grueling 32-mile Molokai to Oahu Paddleboard race, and was the champion of the 2009 Rainbow Sandals Battle of the Paddle in Dana Point, California. Some of Jamie’s recent noteworthy wins also include 1st in the Hennessey’s International Paddleboard Race in San Francisco and 4th in the 2010 Battle of the Paddle Hawaii. Since 2002, Jamie has won virtually every major paddleboard race he has competed in… he is incredibly devoted to his passions, and his results speak for themselves.

Jamie is the ultimate waterman, and can be seen in the lineup riding anything from his 5’10 fish to his 18’ paddleboard at any given time. Jamie lives by his personal motto “Nothing but 100%” and it shows in everything he puts his mind to. Jamie has been graced with invitations to some of the world’s most elite big wave riding events such as the 2009 Quiksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau, Tow-in World CUP and the Maverick’s Paddle-in contest. In 2008 he was nominated in Billabong’s XXL Big Wave Awards for a massive wave ridden at Todos Santos, Mexico.

Jamie not only races, but teaches Stand Up Paddling at his Jamie Mitchell School of Paddle and Surf (www.jmsurf.com). Jamie’s wave riding craft includes tow-in boards, SUPs, foil boards, canoe surfing and shortboards. He was an ocean lifeguard for many years; this ocean awareness is extremely apparent in his waterman skills.
