HUNTINGTON BEACH, California – VIRUS is excited to announce the apparel partnership with the USA SUP & Paddleboard Team, that will be representing their country at the 2017 ISA World SUP and Paddleboard Championships (WSUPPC), held in Denmark on September 1 - 10, 2017.

The International Surfing Association (ISA) holds this renowned weeklong event that gathers the world’s best SUP and Paddleboard athletes to compete to be the Gold Medal National Team. The event features five disciplines: SUP Surfing, SUP Racing Technical, SUP Racing Sprint, SUP Racing Distance and Paddleboard Racing Technical and Distance. Within the SUP Racing and Paddleboard disciplines, athletes will be competing in up to three events including the Technical and Distance Races as well as the Paddle Relay.

“It’s an honor to be an official partner of the USA team as they represent our country during this year’s ISA World Championship in Denmark,” said Russell Stone, President of VIRUS. “We have been on the beaches in support of the paddle community since our company’s beginning,” he said, “and we are proud to join our USA paddle athletes as they fulfill their dreams and strive to be the best. We, too, feel that it’s a dream come true for us and a great time to show off what we have been creating both for paddle athletes and general athletics on a global stage.”

Sean Poynter, USA SUP & Paddleboard Team Captain, said of the partnership, “It's really exciting to have VIRUS supporting the team this year. They develop athletic wear to support champions in an array of sports, so to have them bring that to us in SUP and Paddleboarding is amazing.” Poynter furthered, “It's going to be a huge confidence booster coming into world championships knowing we're rocking gear built for next level performance. We should also look pretty damn good because of it.”

Of the team gear Stone noted, “It’s our core strength and we have some great compression pieces for paddling in both tops and bottoms. Beyond paddling, our compression line aids in performance, recovery and travel that will give the team an extra edge. We are also excited to showcase our active line that will have USA themed prints and designs.” He continued, “The team will look great and will represent USA in style. We will be in Denmark documenting their journey and producing some great media in support of our USA team and our global paddle community.”
