Lake Powell Expedition On A Standup Paddleboard

View from the campsite on night #1.

SAN DIEGO, California - On September 6th, Mike Tavares and Zack Hughes, Co-Owner and Master Shaper of Badfish SUP, launched on Lake Powell into what would be an unforgettable self-support journey across an iconic American landscape. Mike and Zack are typically paddling whitewater or surfing somewhere at the coast, but this time, they decided to plan a trip a bit out of the ordinary.

Mike and Zack packed up for their trip expecting it to take them 7-10 days to paddle the entire lake. Along the way they encountered friendly faces, rainstorms, waterfalls, flash floods, wildlife and much more.

“We completed the Trip in 6 full days. 5 full days of paddling and 2 half days,” Mike said. “We paddled roughly 150 with more than likely a few extra tacked on there in side canyons and zig zagging our way back and forth across the canyon. We started the trip at 4pm and finished at the exact same time 6 days later. Our bodies were beat, broken, tired, but our spirits were high and we were in awe of what we had just accomplished.”
