JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colorado - According to a report from 9news on Sunday, October 11, two standup paddle boarders were paddling at the Chatfield Reservoir in Colorado when high winds created unruly conditions causing the paddle boarders distress. One of the paddlers made it to shore safely however the other paddler had fallen off their board and went under the water.

What started as a rescue mission to find the other paddler ended up turning into a rescue mission. After a lengthy search, ranger boats and a dive team recovered the body of the missing paddle boarder. It is suspected that the paddler was not wearing a leash or PFD as they had been separated from their board.

The identity of the paddle boarders are unknown at this time.
