SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, California - The proven design/development team of Brian Szymanski and John Becker joined Lahui Kai in May of 2014 and have never looked back. Annabel Anderson, the #1 Pro woman paddler in the world, who worked closely with Brian and John in the past, came onboard in 2015. In the world of SUP design, there must be a strong passion for design, development, and testing to get to the next better shape. Brian, John, and Annabel have this passion and have been working together for many years. Mick Dibetta, founder of Lahui Kai, has been an inspiration to all with his ocean knowledge and world-renowned training program for paddlers. Kelly Margetts has been with Lahui Kai from day one, and brings much talent and knowledge to the brand with his ocean background and strong passion for training and racing.

Our goal for Lahui Kai has always been to produce the best possible shapes, whether you are a Pro, a weekend warrior, or just want to enjoy a nice day paddling on the water with friends. Over the years we've found that a two-year design cycle yields the best results. We take a broad-based approach to feedback during the beginning of this cycle, gathering a large variety of information from various team riders, recreational paddlers, and shop affiliates. We then focus specifically on the subtle details to create an overall advantage for every shape - surf, race, and tour. As the design gets closer to being finalized, two of the world's greatest athletes then provide additional feedback to further improve the line. This process results in an unmatched look and trend in design that has become Lahui Kai's signature.

Last year, we stepped up the R&D program with even more focus and intensity on design. This upcoming season is the second phase of our design cycle when the new prototypes will be put to the test through racing, training and testing in all ocean and flat water conditions. In the upcoming months, if you see Annabel, Kelly, Brian or John on a board that looks different, that's because it is! We will work tirelessly to continue to bring you new, innovative designs!
