FCS SUP's Casper Steinfath Takes Over Paris

December 15, 2014 - Last week over 400 participants gathered to compete in the biggest race of the year in Paris; the 5th Annual Nautic SUP Paris Crossing. FCS SUP's Casper Steinfath emerged as the overall winner of the event riding a prototype SUP fin that he recently developed.

 

“It was amazing to race through Paris with 400 smiling paddlers”, noted Casper. “It was one of the most beautiful and hardest races I have ever been in! I’m super stoked to finish the 2014 SUP season with a win in Europe's biggest and most prestigious race.”

 

Casper was born and raised in Denmark by a Danish mother and American father who happened to be a surfer.  He acquired a love for the water at an early age and never looked back. Casper and FCS teammate Eric Terrian are widely recognized as two of the most successful European SUP competitors.

 

 

Besides the win in Paris last week Casper has victories in the ISA World Championships (Technical Race), the Bilbao World Sup Challenge (Sprints), and the Mongoose Cup in California.  He was recently appointed an ambassador of the sport by Fernando Aguerre, president of the International Surfing Association. And not only that, he’s an accomplished surfer and the recipient of the Waterman's League Sportsmanship Award for 2014. That’s quite an amazing year for a man of just 21.

FCS’s Tyler Callaway, who’s worked closely with Casper on his equipment, remarked on his recent success. "Casper is the real deal and it's been great working with him, and all our incredible athletes on new fin designs. To get that validation through our athletes winning on FCS fins is a real bonus. It’s been an incredible year with over 30 major races won, that’s inspiring and it keeps us motivated to keep moving forward with SUP fin innovation and technology."
