Supconnect Awards: The People's Choice 2025

San Diego, CALIFORNIA - Before we announce the winners of the 16th annual Supconnect Awards, we want to recognize those who received the most votes in the People's Choice Awards. These individuals had strong support from their friends, family, and the SUP community, and we want to give them special recognition for their efforts.

The official winners of the Supconnect Awards (to be announced soon) are selected based on criteria such as Ambassadorship, Involvement, Performance, and Support. To determine the winners of these awards, we follow a rigorous process that involves consulting our advisory board, comprised of individuals deeply involved in the sport of standup paddling. We also consider feedback from fans, consumers, our editorial board, and industry brands and retailers. You can find more details about our Awards history and selection process here.

Without further ado, here are the People's Choice from the 2025 Supconnect Awards.

Man - Ricardo Rossi

Hailing from the picturesque coasts of Italy, Riccardo Rossi has emerged as one of the country’s most consistent and dedicated SUP athletes. Known for his powerful stroke, tactical racing, and calm under pressure, Riccardo competes across both sprint and distance disciplines on the international circuit.

With a background in water sports and a deep respect for the ocean, Riccardo blends athleticism with strategy, often earning top placements in Europe’s most competitive races. Whether navigating technical beach starts or grinding through long-distance battles, his performances reflect a mix of Italian grit and precision.

Woman - Camille Dubrana

Camille Dubrana is a world champion stand-up paddle surfer, coach, and proud mother — a true multi-hyphenate in the world of ocean sports. Representing Starboard SUP, Camille has earned global respect for her powerful yet graceful approach in the waves, combining technical precision with fearless progression.

As a SUP surf athlete, Camille has reached the pinnacle of the sport, claiming world titles and consistently landing podium finishes at top international events. Off the competitive stage, she dedicates her time to coaching the next generation of SUP surfers, sharing her experience and passion with athletes across France and beyond. Balancing elite-level competition with motherhood and mentorship, Camille brings heart, strength, and authenticity to everything she does — both in and out of the water.

Grom - Matei Barbu

Matei Barbu is one of the most exciting young talents emerging from Eastern Europe’s SUP scene. Representing Romania with pride, Matei made headlines in 2024 by capturing 1st place in the Junior Men’s 100m Sprint at the ICF World Championships — a defining moment that marked his arrival on the global stage.

Known for his explosive starts, disciplined training, and quiet determination, Matei has quickly become a rising star to watch. As he continues to refine his sprint and technical skills, his performances are setting a new benchmark for junior athletes across Europe. Driven, focused, and humble, Matei represents the next generation of international SUP racers — hungry for progress and ready to inspire.

Kevin has been a SUP Specific Sales Rep for over a decade now. Kevin has worked for many great brands like Futures Fins, Quick Blade, Laird, Virus, Hamboards, Vestpac, Body Glove and now Starboard. Kevin’s passion for the sport comes out in his work. There’s no doubt that Kevin goes above and beyond for the brands that he represents but also the shops that he works with. He hosts demos and lessons, he educates consumers and ​​does in store clinics with the retail staff on all the selling points of each board.
