Florianópolis To Host Brazilian Edition Of BoP

Florianópolis, the capital of Santa Catarina State, known as The Magic Island, will receive the second Brazilian edition of the Battle of the Paddle (BOP), the largest event in the world of SUP sport. Organizers confirmed that the event will take place from November 19-23, at the beautiful beach of Barra da Lagoa, in the east of Florianópolis Island. Registration is now open through the official website battleofthepaddlebrasil.com. Expectation is that the event brings together hundreds of the best athletes in the world of SUP Race.

“To Santa Catarina State, host an event of this magnitude, that combines tourism and sport, is a great differential. We welcome all the athletes and want everyone to be satisfied with the friendly people of our state. We are sure that the Battle of the Paddle Brazil will be a big success,” sats Filipe Mello, Secretary for Tourism, Culture and Sports of Santa Catarina.

 

Besides Elite Racers, the amateurs, loves and beginners of Stand Up Paddle will have a good share of excitement guaranteed with specific races. Environmental and cultural activities will be happening at the beach, attracting the crowd and also competitors family members. Major brands of SUP market will be presenting innovations and accessories at SUP Expo.

 

 

The 2013 edition marked the debut of BoP in Brazil and happened in October of the last year, in Cabo Frio (RJ). That was a confirmation that the event offers some of the most exciting contest to be watched into the world of SUP. This was the first time in history that the BoP had an edition held outside the United States.

The event will have eight races: Elite Race, Open Age Group, Elite Long Distance, SUP Relays, Kids, Long Distance, Medium and Short Distances. Just enter the website, click Registration link and follow the steps.

 

Attention to some important information:

1. For now, entries are only for BoP Brasil Races. The race that will be valid for the Brazilian Tour, will have specific registration opened soon;
2. Athletes may sign up for as many races as their will. Only the Kids category is exclusive and the Distance Races (Long, Medium, and Short) are happening simultaneously, enabling participation in only one of them. All the others will happen at different times.
