Paddle Board Highlights

Who is it for?

If you’re looking for an inflatable touring SUP that’s best suited for female and light-weight beginner paddlers, take a look here at the Aztron Terra. The Terra is a smaller-sized touring inflatable that is 10’6”, lightweight and easy to carry. Because of its shape, its well suited for touring and adventuring and can paddle up to a few miles. The board comes with everything you need - paddle, pump, leash and fin - and sits in the mid-tier price point in terms of affordability with an MSRP of $539.

First Impressions

At first glance, the graphics really pop and are quite eye-catching to say the least. The bold bluish-purple and pops of pink really align with the intent in designing this board for females and the moon design within the graphic plays really well into their overall brand theme. Speaking of graphics, the entire package had great branding and color coordination throughout each piece of equipment, even the packaging. Small touches like these go a long way. Another great feature about this board is the double chamber technology which adds not only an additional layer of safety but it also helps with the rigidity of the board. Very nice! Speaking of the Double Chamber tech, Aztron's tech is made with Double Layer MSL Fusion material which helps the rigidity of the board but also the durability. Typically, the more layers of construction there are in an inflatable, the heavier the board gets but that's not the case here. This board is actually quite light and weighs just over 21 lbs making it easy to carry around and get in and out of the water. And what's more - these features are very rarely seen in a board at this price point so it's something that makes this board stand out against other inflatables at the same price tier. Now there was a slight hiccup that we encountered which included a loose screw on the paddle that needed tightening and there was some residual glue from the attachment points that were visible but other than that it was smooth sailing! On the water, the board felt really comfortable and stable, even more so than other inflatables of the same size. It’s also worth noting that the tail kick at the tail of the deck pad is super helpful when trying to pivot turn. Overall, if you’re looking for a good-looking inflatable touring board that’s great for females or smaller paddlers the Terra from Aztron is definitely worth considering.

Benefits

  • Primary Use

    Touring

Paddle Boards fall into two broad categories, All-Around and Specialty boards, with all-around designed primarily for recreation while speciality boards for top performance in specific disciplines

  • Durability

    Somewhat fragile

Durability is largely a result of the board construction and shape, with more durable boards typically carrying more materials (added layers, PVC, etc) and as such adding to the weight.

  • Carrying

    Easy

Carrying ease is determined by board weight and handle type, where a board weighing under 20lbs with a Liftsup handle is extremely easy to carry while a 35+lbs board quite difficult.

  • Stability

    Average

Stability is a product of construction and shape, where boards w/ 30”+ wide and 200+ liters in volume offer plenty of stability for your AVG adult while a board under 26” wide is a challenge.

  • Glide

    Average

Glide is a result of board shape and construction, w/ boards weighing under 30lbs and designed for racing offering best glide while recreational boards normally being on the slow side.

Features

  • Dimensions

    10'6" x 32" x 6"

Industry standard in board dimensions reads: L (length, from nose to tail) x W (width, from rail to rail at midpoint length), and H (height, from top to bottom of board at midpoint length).

  • Weight

    21.12 lbs

Standup paddle boards tend to fall into 4 different weight classes: extremely lightweight (under 20 lbs), lightweight (20-28 lbs), average weight (28-35 lbs), heavy (above 35 lbs).

  • Volume

    270 L

Volume is a key metric to determine how much weight a board can carry. Boards w/ 200+ liters offer most floatation with boards under 150 liters typically for high-performance surf.

  • Capacity

    315 lbs

Capacity is the max cargo weight a stand up paddle board can carry, considering not only the paddler’s weight but whatever else the paddler may choose to carry alongside him/her.

  • Add On's

D Ring, Paddle Included, Leash Included

Add-on’s include bungee cords, a minimalist way to haul things; connexsup, which allows for all sorts of attachments, even fishing rods; and FCS II/Connect, for easy fin instal.

  • Handle

    Strap

Handles directly affect carrying ease, with external grip handles (Liftsup & EZgrab) offering most comfort, Internal Ergo Grip the mid-tier comfort, and box handles as least comfortable.

  • Holders

    No

Fishing rod holders and/or paddle holders can make paddling that much more pleasant, esp. when needing holders for the rod or having a safe place for the paddle during yoga.
