5th Ocean Quest SUP Race is a FUN-Raiser

 

WAIMEA BAY, Hawaii - The 5th Annual North Shore Ocean Quest Paddleboard Race will be held on Saturday August 10, 2013. The SUP/Prone Paddleboard portion is from Waimea Bay to Haleiwa Alii Beach and is open to the public. It is a community driven FUN-raiser Paddleboard “race” mainly for family, friends and the weekend-warrior.

 

There will be awards and prizes for top finishers!  Come enjoy a day of friendly competition, camaraderie and exercise by joining the “quest” to give back to the community!·

 

There will also be a counterpart event, an ocean triathlon “team-pursuit” race which includes: SUP from Sunset Beach to Ehukai...beach run to Rockpiles...SUP to Waimea Bay...swim and beach run around Waimea Bay...SUP to Haleiwa Alii Beach Park. This endurance test is primarily for invited City & County agencies: Ocean Safety, Honolulu Police, Honolulu Fire, Parks & Recreation at Haleiwa Surf Center, Federal Firefighters. Any other interested private entries or sponsored teams are to call Kerry Terukina at 226-1864.

 

This event has the support of the North Shore Lifeguard Association (NLSA) and the Quiksilver Foundation (QF) which are certified non-profit organizations. Proceeds will be used to support North Shore and island-wide ocean recreation and water safety programs such as but not limited to: NSLA and/or QF sponsored clinics and events, Dept. of Parks & Rec ocean recreation programs, junior lifeguard classes/clinics and associated materials, supplies and equipment.
