As a brief background of the Gear of the Year awards, there were 9 categories for products to be nominated and an additional Overall gear winner.

Get ready for the 4th Annual Quickblade Jr Pro & Youth SupFiesta presented by Infinity SUP. In its fourth year, the 2016 SUP Fiesta has outgrown a one-day event and the new format this year will allow competitors to focus on one discipline each day. With the events starting in the afternoon, there is plenty of time for athletes, spectators, and sponsors to attend the Standup for the Cure event in the morning, then make the short drive across the bay to the Newport Aquatic Center.

Performance Paddling is excited to announce the 4th Annual Quickblade Jr Pro & Youth SupFiesta presented by Infinity on May 7 - 8, 2016.  Once again the top youth sup athletes in the world will congregate for the largest youth only sup event in the world. This unique event is comprised of three components, a Junior Pro Invitational Sup Surfing competition, Age Group SUP Surfing contest (7 divisions), and an Age Group SUP Race (7 divisions).

After seeing tremendous success throughout the past 3 years within the performance surfboard market, Ventura, California-based Varial Surf Technology is venturing into the SUP marketplace with high-performance surf SUP blanks, specifically for 8-foot and under performance surf SUP’s.

In stormy conditions and pumping surf, Kai Lenny and Candice Appleby win the overall titles at the 2015 Stand Up World Series US Open of SUP. With her third win of the season here, Candice Appleby secured the 2015 Stand Up World Series World Title.

While the surf was small, it was definitely clean and more than enough to deliver some World Class Surfing on Day 1 of the US Open of Stand Up Paddling over the weekend. With a truly international field of stellar athletes stepping up to do battle, the scene has been set for not only a climactic finish to the Trials, but a fiercely contested Main Event for the Men over the coming days.
