GoPro Mountain Games 2016 Recap & Results

The GoPro Games really outdid themselves with the stand up paddle events this year. The number of competitors was higher than any previous year having close to 100 SUP athletes registered for the event. They spiced things up with the start for the SUP Cross event and they kept the crowd on their feet with the SUP invitational event.

Largest Paddling Festival In The Northwest Splashes Down In May 2016

For expert paddlers or those looking to dip their paddle in the water for the first time, the sixth annual Northwest Paddling Festival is THE place to be to get started for a summer on the water. Held at Lake Sammamish State Park in Issaquah, Friday May 6 and Saturday May 7, the festival is the largest event of its kind in the Pacific Northwest.

Lauren Rodriguez To Enter Grueling 340 Mile SUP Race Across Missouri: The MR340

The MR340, a 340 mile paddling race on the Missouri River will take place on July 19th, 2016 and no female has ever crossed the finish line. This year, Lauren Rodriguez will attempt at being one of the first, if not the first, female to finish this race and all alongside her team of eight including Shane Perrin, who once held the World Record for longest paddle in 24 hours. As only one of two females entering the race this year Lauren is determined to not only cross the finish line but to also raise funds and awareness for GoRedforWomen.

70 Stand Up Paddlers Set To Paddle The Guadiana River In One Day

In 2014 Nick Robinson paddled 32km down the Guadiana River and loved it so much, that he vowed to do it again. In 2015 he created the "Guadiana Challenge" and asked 12 stand up paddlers to come with. 18 willing paddlers clamored to join him. Now this year more than 70 paddlers from all over Portugal and Europe will paddle down alongside Nick from the picturesque Alentejan town of Mertola and onto the Algarve's jewel of the river, Alcoutim.

Londoners Invited To Join Campaign To Clean London Waterways

Between April 8 and 13, 2016, London’s waterways will host recreational paddlers collecting rubbish from canoes, paddle boards and  kayaks all in a bid to raise awareness of the plastics pollution problem and to clean London’s waterways.

Stand Up Paddling is a fast growing sport and local authorities in Slovenia, a picturesque country in Middle Europe, spotted an easy way to collect some quick and easy cash. Being resourceful, they just skipped businesses as planned on the Californian coast and want to collect directly from paddlers to avoid the middleman. Winter Whitewater SUP In Hood River, Oregon

On a sunny February day in northern Oregon, paddle boarders and kayakers meet on the Hood River. There is a camaraderie between river people. Water levels are up and the call for paddling the “backyard run” has been made. For many of these paddlers, this is a daily run. A short shuttle from the town of Hood River for 14 miles of continuous Class III+ whitewater hurdling down a forested canyon before its confluence with the Columbia River Gorge.
