The open nominations of the 2012 Supconnect SUP Woman of the Year Awards only has 10 days left! ·Which ladies will join the pre-seeded eilte female athletes for the final in October?
Alice Shih is the current leader in the 2012 Open Nominations for the SUP Woman of the Year Contest.

SAN DIEGO, California -·The open nominations phase of the 2012 SUP Woman of the Year Awards has just 10 days left! ·Only the top 5 women automatically move on to join the pre-seeded elite ladies, but some will be given an honorary entry as well.
Currently the Female SUP Nominees with the highest votes are as follows:
1st - Alice Shih with 220 votes
2nd - Sarah Brenes with 190 votes
3rd - Iballa Moreno with 156 votes
4th - Erin Finn MacDonald with 137 votes, and
5th - Michelle Gierst with 132 votes
It is exciting to see all these new faces to the SUP scene and it is especially great to know who they are and learn about all the "SUP stoke" they are spreading. ·A huge congratulations to all of these ladies who are doing so well and who are already winners.·
The SUP Woman open nominations will run through September 30, 2012 and end at midnight pacific standard time. The 5 women with the most votes will advance to the final which will run the entire month of October. ·Other women from the nominations may also win an honarary entry into the final with the preseeded elite athletes. ·Ultimately, after the final is complete a winner will be chosen according to a·selection process which is multi-faceted and will depend on the following criteria:
1. Ambassadorship: ·Conveying the cheerfulness and inclusiveness characteristic of the sport.
2. Involvement: ·Attending events and gatherings, having a finger on the pulse of the sport.
3. Performance: ·Showing proficiency in the sport, though top results are not a requirement.
4. Support: ·Having a following and votes to show you have some support to validate your credibility.
Good luck to all the SUP Women and especially to those in the open nominations who are trying to make it into the final. Hurry and vote for them as there are only 10 DAYS LEFT!
