Hawaii's Mo Freitas earned his first-ever ISA Gold Medal over the weekend to become World Champion in the SUP Technical Race at the 2017 ISA World SUP and Paddleboard Championship in Vorupør, Denmark.
Technical Races got off to a blazing start on Tuesday in Cold Hawaii in the North of Denmark, setting the stage for four highly anticipated, star-studded Finals in the 2017 ISA World SUP and Paddleboard Championship.
The International Surfing Association (ISA) has hailed the unique Surfing and StandUp Paddle locations Denmark has to offer following site visits to both Copenhagen and Vorupør, co-hosts of the 2017 ISA World StandUp Paddle (SUP) and Paddleboard Championship.
Denmark has become the first country to announce a bid for the 2017 ISA World StandUp Paddle & Paddleboard Championship. If successful, Denmark would become the first European country to host the World Championship. The ISA World StandUp Paddle & Paddleboard Championship has never been staged outside of Latin America, so Denmark is hoping to play a leading part in showcasing the exciting and developing sport to a European audience.
