Survivor SUP, Standup for the Cure, La Torche & More

Once again the stand up paddle world is going to have an intense weekend of demos, fund raisers, racing and competition all over the world.  Be sure to find the nearest event and enjoy a dose of SUP!  Here are some of the events that are taking center stage:

The Stand Up World Tour in La Torche, France began last weekend and has already produced some winners but will continue with the stand up world series portion of the grand slam event today and tomorrow.  However, a big congratulations to those who have already been victorious in the La Torche Pro.  Some of them include Caroline Angibaud who took first place, while Iballa Moreno was second and Nicole Boronat came in third.  As for the men, Antoine Delpero carried away the win in his own country while Leco Salazar of Brazil took second, Colin McPhillips from California took 3rd and Caio Vaz of Brazil came in fourth.  Also, Ian Vaz won the Na Kama Kai Challenge - a grom event including some of the best up and coming paddlers.  Benoit Carpentier was second with 12 year old Leo Paul Etienne finishing 3rd and Arthur Arutkin in 4th.

Also this weekend will be the much anticipated Jamie Mitchell, Survivor SUP race at the Waikiki Paddle Festival.  This will truly test a variety of skills for the stand up paddlers and give them a new challenge.  When speaking about the course Jamie Mitchell said, "SURVIVOR isn't going to be just about endurance, but also about skill and fitness, so in that sense, I expect it to be a great indicator of all-around talent."  Don't miss this one as they will race for a $5000 prize!  Watch live updates from the event on the home page, here at the Supconnect website!

Another event being brought to you by live video updates on Supconnect is the Stand Up for The Cure event in Southern California.  You do not want to miss this as the stand up paddle community will be raising money to fight against breast cancer and also hopes to set a Guinness World Record for the largest Stand Up Paddleboard lesson.  They hope to have 250 or more participants!  This will not only provide a chance to finally try out stand up paddle boarding but also support a great cause! The event begins at 9am at Newport Dunes, Newport Beach, California.

Stand Up for the Hooch Race & Festival will be another fun event this weekend.  It will have world class stand up paddlers as well as beginners who can have fun in a 6 mile or 2 mile  race on the waters of Chattahoochee River, in Sandy Springs, Georgia.  Other events happening include the Paddle Imua on Maui, Hawaii as well as the Werner Paddle Stroke Clinic in Wainscott, New York and the 9th Annual Malibu Downwinder in California.  For details on these or more events in your area please look at the events tab here on the Supconnect website.

Enjoy a SUPer weekend of Stand Up Paddle!
