Santa Monica Pier Paddle Race Returns In 2014

SANTA MONICA, California - The Santa Monica Pier Paddle Race & Ocean Festival presented by Tommy Bahama returns to the Pier on Saturday, June 7, 2014.  This family-friendly event features an ocean swim, paddleboard, SUP and dory races and kids races.  All courses start and finish on the sand immediately south of the Pier.  The pier deck features hula dancing, beer and rum garden, live music and a board & gear expo celebrating the history of paddleboarding.  Online registration is available now at www.pierpaddle.com. 

Events:
5.5 Mile WPA-Sanctioned Long Course & Elite Race, 2-mile Fun Paddle, 1 mile Ocean Swim, Kids Races and the Tommy Bahama SUP/Paddleboard Knockout.

Prize Purse:
Minimum prize purse of $4,000 for the Elite Race and the Tommy Bahama SUP/Paddleboard Knockout.

Benefits:
A portion of net proceeds will go to Heal the Bay and its public marine education facility, the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium.  Heal the Bay is an environmental non-profit dedicated to making Southern California coastal waters and watersheds, including the Santa Monica Bay, safe, healthy and clean.
