Mark Schulbach’s Inspiring M2O Story

OAHU, Hawaii - The Molokai to Oahu race is one of the most grueling paddleboard and standup paddle races in the world. The Kai’wi Channel has the nickname “channel of bones” and for good reason. The waters in this channel are so rough and unpredictable that it makes for an extremely difficult time to go through.

When the M2O race happens every year, we always hear stories of records being broken and how the world’s best show up to do this race. What we don’t often hear are the stories of the average guy/gal attempting to do this race. So, when we came across this story of Mark Schulbach’s experience during the M2O, we couldn’t help but to share it.

This is a short film that follows amateur paddler Mark Schulbach as he attempts his first crossing of the infamous 32mile Kai'wi channel during the 2014 Molokai to Oahu Paddleboard Championships.

Watch this awesome film and enjoy!
