LAKE TAHOE, California - LXV Outdoor is bringing stand-up paddleboard company KM Hawaii under its outdoor sports umbrella. They will have the rights to all KM Hawaii SUP boards and products while founder and owner Brett Huf continues developing the brand and designing boards.

This is the second acquisition by James McColl, CEO of LXV Outdoor, in his mission to bring the SUP culture to a new level. James’ plan is to build an accessible platform of outdoor sports brands focused on quality products that can benefit from LXV Outdoor platform to extend their reach into the market. He began in late 2015 with Tahoe SUP, a paddleboard company geared toward leisure and outdoor exploration. McColl said, “The addition of the KM Hawaii brand goes along to filling in the LXV Outdoor offering in our paddleboard portfolio. The addition of a high-class Race and Surf line up brings us closer to a complete line of paddleboard product...we continue to look for additional brands to join the LXV family.

KM Hawaii started in 2008, long before most SUP companies knew what the sport was. KM has since developed one of the best racing platforms on the market. The current design is KM’s sixth generation board and is often a personal favorite of many of their retail store owners. “ Hawaii is great testing ground for both product and rider feedback.” We have access to some of the best paddlers in the world. As a company we have been privileged to learn from these multi generation paddling families.

Brett Huf started the Hawaiian-based company shortly after moving to the islands from Australia. In 2006 Huf became friends with two local guys who used Tandem Surf Boards and custom build Wooden outrigger canoe paddles to catch waves at Waikiki. “Back then we would be the only three guys surfing paddle boards in Waikiki. One of the guys would always take his dog. It was a little dog and he had that thing trained to jump on his back when he caught a wave. It was so exciting to be involved in the front end of this revolution known as Stand Up Paddling.

Nowadays when I go to my favorite break just outside Waikiki there are dozens of people SUPing”.“I wanted to start a business that did something I could do with my sons,” Brett says. “We love Hawaii and it’s a big part of who we have become. The warmness of the Hawaiian culture is something that we are privileged to be a part of.As the KM Hawaii brand continued to grow, Brett realized that product development is a full time job. “I'm a one-man band... With LXV Outdoor handling the part they’re passionate about: the business, production and distribution. I can now focus on what I'm really passionate about, which is shape and design.”

Brett will be advancing that passion by having access to ThermoSUP™ technology from Tahoe SUP to develop strong, lightweight, cost effective boards.“I'm thrilled for the opportunity to transfer some of the more successful KM models into ThermoSUP™. I'm very impressed with the technology... Its production ease and durability will help us cater to a larger section of the SUP market.

LXV Outdoor plans to continue supporting this kind of dedication and intimacy with the sport by raising smaller companies onto its growing platform. They want to make sure paddlers around the world, amateur to professional, can get the kind of quality that passionate creators like Brett Huf bring to outdoor adventure. You can discover the LXV Outdoor and KM Hawaii boards and stories for yourself at: LXV Outdoor website HERE and KM Hawaii website HERE.
