La Ventana Classic Returns to Baja for 2018

BAJA SUR, Mexico - This winter escape to warm weather, downwind racing and good times. Enjoy the La Ventana Classic, an adventurous and unique windsport and paddle sport event. Set for January 17-21, 2018 in Baja Sur, Mexico, at a stunning event site situated between the azure beauty of the Sea of Cortez and rustic foothills of the Sierra de la Laguna mountain range.

SUP (stand-up paddleboard) and prone paddlers (traditional paddleboard) compete in multiple “downwind” course races including the challenging 11-mile channel crossing from Jacuques Cousteau Island (aka: Cervalo Island) to La Ventana and epic Las Cruces Downwinder. For windsport enthusiasts: kite boarders, kite foils and windsurfers compete in distance and course races, as well as, super exciting freestyle and big air contests. Try out all the new equipment at the Kite Expo set up at the Hot Springs through the weekend.

Mission number one combines having lots of fun and supporting a great cause. The LVC is a vital fundraiser for the schools of La Ventana/El Sargento villages. The event has raised over $100,000 since it’s inception (at last year’s event over $25,000 raised), assisting the local community with much needed education program funds.

Awesome beach parties, rocking bands, authentic Mexican food vendors, colorful dance presentations by local schools, mountain biking racing and the most excellent awards party ever make the La Ventana Classic one great event not to miss!
